High-Tech Communications

New tower offers improved communications tools for patients.

Nurse call system

Patients use this device
to page their nurse
directly when they need
water, are in pain or
have to use the restroom.

In addition to the new tower, Mary Greeley also put in a new nurse call system, which helps make hospital staff even more efficient and provides patients with improved care.

The call system includes a wall screen that can send a text to a corresponding staff member with just the push of a button. For example, if a doctor is in a patient room and needs a nurse, he or she could press a button to immediately send a message to have the nurse come to the room.

Patient rooms also come with new and improved communication boards. The familiar boards are used to provide patients with information regarding their care. The new boards are larger and easier to read. They provide a patient with information about their health care team, medications and other care plan information.

TV and communication Board

Medical records will now be able to be viewed
on patient room televisions and communication
boards have been made larger and easier to read.

Also new is the connectivity between the bedside computer and the patient’s television. This enables nurses and physicians to pull up lab results, x-rays, or anything else from the patient’s medical record and display it on the television for easier viewing by patients and their families.

The new patient tower also boasts large, comfortable waiting areas for families and other visitors. The areas feature sitting spaces, kitchenettes and computer workstations.
