PRIDE Award Nomination

PRIDE Award Winner

Larissa Michalek & Dr. Lake, Radiology

A quote from the nomination reads, Larissa (US tech) and Dr. Lake did an amazing job! My last patient of the day had an ultrasound mid-afternoon. Larissa called me right after the US to let me know she was concerned about what she saw. The PRIMARY concern was that this could be a possible abruption. Dr. Lake called me as soon as he read the images. I was able to let Dr. Swanson know. He, too, read the images and concurred that this was concerning and recommended prompt admission to Birthways. Because I was promptly notified by both Larissa and Dr. Lake, I saw this patient immediately and sent her over to Birthways. She was admitted at 1547 and she was delivered by c/section at 1742. Because of Larissa and Dr. Lake, this patient received the immediate care she needed, which very likely saved her baby's life! She delivered a healthy baby with apgars of 8 and 9! (Weight 6# 4.9 oz). We are all a team and can't do OUR job by ourselves! Yesterday was a perfect example of this. THANK YOU

Department PRIDE Award Winners

Each quarter we recognize a department for their commitment to our PRIDE values.

Department PRIDE Winners - Dietetic Services

Dietary

“Dietetic Services work diligently to provide not only our patients, but our staff with high quality and nutritious food options. They are willing to help when asked for treats for a special event or occasion and they rarely get credit for all they do. Mary Greeley is generous with our employee meals and what a treat they are! There is so much planning and work that goes into employee meals between day shift coming in early to be there and have everything ready to go on time and both day shift and evening shift preparing all of the food and making sure that everything looks great and is high quality. As all of us are able to sit and enjoy the meal or catch it on the go, dietary ensures that the lines stay full and then have the clean-up after. They do all of this without hesitation and despite not expecting praise, they so deserve it! For this, I would like to nominate dietetic services all shifts and rolls for the PRIDE award to offer them praise for all of their hard work, thank you!”

“Dietetic Services ensures that our entire hospital both staff and patients/visitors have delicious food options! Each day, they prepare and serve food with a smile, brightening the days of both staff and patients. They especially go above-and-beyond for celebratory employee meals. While most of us get to enjoy a meal and camaraderie with our co-workers, Dietetic Services is ensuring that everyone is getting what they need. They're so deserving to be recognized for the hard work they do day in and day out!”

Nominated by Audra Lyman & Jessica Carter.

Congratulations, Dietary, on this well-deserved recognition!

Department PRIDE Winners - ACS

ACS

"A nursing home patient in a wheelchair was dropped off at the main entrance who needed to be in the Cardiology Clinic. He asked if he could use the restroom prior to going up to the clinic, and he couldn't wait. We called ACS and asked if they had anyone that could take him to the restroom, and the ACS techs kindly came out to assist. Once they got him to the restroom, they realized he needed a Hoyer Lift. They took the time to track down a lift and then took him to an ACS room to take care of the situation! This, of course, was all very time consuming. Christine, Brooke, Emma, Amanda, and all ACS techs, definitely took great care of this patient (even though he wasn't their patient)! Thanks for doing what's right!"

Nominated by Kelli Clemens.

Congratulations, ACS, on this well-deserved recognition!

Department PRIDE Winners - Oncology

Oncology

"It goes without saying but the team on oncology takes exceptional care of all of their patients and forms close bonds with a lot of their patient population. One gentleman in particular, was here for over 6 months and the staff made his stay special. They would play cards with him, visit with him and make him special snacks and treats. They decorated his room for recent holidays and treated him with extra care. He was recently transferred/discharged to a local nursing home. The staff was so invested and cared so much for him, they have continued to visit him in the nursing home with some of them making sure he has all that he needs. He has limited family involvement and they want to make sure he continues to be taken care of. The staff has purchased him a TV, bedding, decorations for his room and even clothing. This is most definitely going above and beyond and demonstrating the PRIDE values we have here at Mary Greeley Medical Center. At the very least, they deserve a thank you for the tremendous care they give their patients."

Congratulations, Oncology, on this well-deserved recognition!

Department PRIDE Winners - Home Health

Home Health

“There was a patient that was sent home with no phone, no electricity, no gas, not all of her medications, and no food in the home. Lori, RN, Kristin, PT, Noreen, OT, and Jody, Social Work went to the home and helped her get her gas and electric back on, applied for a government phone, a neighbor helped her get food for her, they helped her set up appointments, get rides for the appointments, went and got her medications for her and toilet paper. They all went above and beyond for this patient. I couldn't nominate one person for this as it was a team effort! All of them are still working more at getting her assistance to pay her bills and get her to an appointment that she missed while in the hospital. I am very proud of our Home Health Family!!”

Nominated by Nikki Seiser.

Congratulations, Home Health, on this well-deserved recognition!

Department PRIDE Winners - Wound Clinic

Wound Clinic

“On Friday April 28th it was determined that a 19-year-old patient had necrotizing fasciitis and could potentially lose his leg. The team came together to discuss options, as the Wound Healing Clinic normally only operates Mondays through Fridays. Doing what is right for this patient was the top priority. At the end of the day Amy Terhaar ARNP supervised HBO on both Saturday and Sunday. Amy Gustoff (RT) came in on Saturday and Linda Wuebker (RN) on Sunday to dive the patient. There was a lot of communication and teamwork to ensure overall safety, correct documentation, patient transport to and from the floor (and even the OR) in the attempt to save this young man's leg. Happy to report that no amputation was needed, thanks to everybody stepping up to do the right thing.”

Nominated by Marie du Toit.

Congratulations, Wound Clinic, on this well-deserved recognition!

Cath Lab

Cath Lab

"The staff in the Cath Lab are all about what is best for patients. There have been two recent cases where a patient needed a procedure, both emergent in nature and during off hours when they weren't on call, where I had texted the Cath Lab staff and asked for their assistance. There was no hesitation either time by the staff. I received immediate responses from them whether they were available or not and both times, there were enough staff that volunteered that the patients could get the procedures they needed and not have to be transferred or delayed in getting their needs met."

Nominated by Jenny Adelmund

Congratulations, Cath Lab, on this well-deserved recognition!
