Presented by Jacob Meyer, PhD, FACSM, Director of the Wellbeing and Exercise Laboratory, Assistant Professor, Department of Kinesiology, Iowa State University.

Much is known about the benefits of aerobic exercise for mental health, but relatively little is known about how resistance exercise training (body weight exercises, weightlifting, resistance bands, etc.) affects mental health. This program will provide a summary of the literature with specific discussion of potential mechanisms through which resistance exercise influences depression and other mental health conditions.
