Mary Greeley Medical Center receives $10,000 grant from Variety - the Children’s Charity

Mary Greeley Medical Center has received a $10,000 grant from Variety – the Children’s Charity to fund the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Prevention Sleep Sacks and Education Program.

Mary Greeley Medical Center is a nonprofit organization serving communities in Central, Western and North Central Iowa. We strive to be the best and advance health through specialized care and personal touch. Gifts to the Mary Greeley Medical Center are received through the Mary Greeley Foundation.

The Variety grant will be used by the Birthways Department to provide a complimentary newborn-size HALO Sleepsack blanket as a gift to parents of each of the 1,100+ babies born at Mary Greeley Medical Center each year. Additionally educational resources are provided to both parents and medical staff to help educate them on safe sleeping practices for a newborn. Each year more than 2,500 babies die in the US from SIDS and Mary Greeley Medical Center is focused on making sure parents and staff have the resources they need to prevent this terrible tragedy.
