AMES, IA – Iowa State University Agricultural Business Club recently donated $3,100 to the William R. Bliss Cancer Center through the Mary Greeley Foundation.

Club members chose the Bliss Cancer Center to honor of their professor and co-adviser, Georgeanne Artz who was diagnosed in August with melanoma cancer. After learning of Georgeanne’s diagnosis, members wanted to share her character of helping others and make a donation in hopes of helping families going through the same journey. The money was raised by "Jeans for Georgeanne" which gave club members the option to wear jeans to their monthly meeting with a donation of $5.00 or more. Nearly 160 members wore jeans and made a contribution to the cause. The club matched the money raised at the meeting. Donations from alumni of the program were also received.

Gifts to the foundation for the Bliss Cancer Center support the programs and services of the center including the Cancer Navigator Program, Cancer Nutrition Program and Courage in Motion Program. Gifts also help fund patient and staff education opportunities.
